I'm currently an aide for SI 339, a UX course dedicated to teaching designers the fundamentals of front-end development. Through this class, I learned to bring my designs to life through HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. As an aide, I'm able to assist students during lecture, discussion, and office hours by helping them complete deliverables, answer any specific questions, and grade assignments.
I spent my past summer working with Develop For Good to help a nonprofit, Tanzanian Children's Fund, better visualize their progress in providing local children with shelter, food, and education in order to present this information to potential donors. During my time, I learned UX research concepts from a personal UX mentor such as creating user flows, personas, and conducting usability testing. I also learned the value of working with a team that comes from multidisciplinary backgrounds to conduct a case study.
I worked with the MDP, a major U-M Engineering program geared towards connecting students to multidisciplinary project teams in order to work on industry or faculty research projects. During my time, I worked to design and maintain their website tailored to connecting students and companies. Overall, I was in charge of maintaining 3 websites by responding to client needs, conducting stand-up meetings, and problem solving Wordpress-related design roadblocks. Being a part of a large team to create opportunities for students to generate impactful solutions was a super rewarding and foundational experience for me as a designer!
